- Fresh Air Open Mic on Wednesday
- The Color Purple in Chicago (starring Fantasia) on Saturday
- B-Day Party on Sunday
Here's what really happened:
- B-Day Party on Sunday
Why didn't I do the other things? Well, the hubby opted not to go to the open mic this past week. I didn't want to go without him, but I did let him know that in two weeks, I'm going with or without him.
We did make it to Chicago's Arie Crown Theater for the 2pm performance of The Color Purple, and just as we were waiting for the show to start, we found out that Fantasia had fallen ill and would not be performing. Well, she's sick. That's fine. But, I paid my money to see Fantasia (extra money as a matter of fact), so I want my money back. Me and half of the crowd stormed out to demand our monies back at the box office (see video below).
I have read many comments online stating that Fantasia does not make or break the show. In this case, she does though. When the regular shows tickets cost $47.50 and you pay double that for your tickets to see a specific performer, it's serious. Also, when you drive five hours to see that specific performer, it's serious. Come on now people! I can be very understanding of her sick day but at least credit me the difference between "regular" performer days and Fantasia days. (Color Purple rant over)
On a more positive note, I did get to go to lunch with my brother and his wife. We at at Chicago's Chicken and Waffles. Those of you who know me know that I love both. So, needless to say, I was pretty much in heaven.
The b-day party went very well. I was very surprised at the turnout that we had. The food was great, the music was great, the weather was great, and everyone got along for the most part. That was a happy day for me.
Now, I'm on vacation for 5 workdays (+Labor day and weekends). I will update soon my my vacation adventures.
TTYL.
