So, today is September 11 (well, it's technically September 12, but my day hasn't ended yet so bear with me). Today it is only appropriate for me to pay some respects to those who lost their loved ones and those whose lives were lost 8 years ago. As I think back, it's hard to believe that one of the US's biggest tragedies happened 8 years ago.
I remember the exact day that it happened and exactly what I was doing. I was a freshman in high school at the time and we were all called into the auditorium for a special announcement. During that brief assembly, we were told that for the top students, there would be an all-expense paid trip to Washington, D.C. -- on a plane.
Right after that, one of the Assistant Pricipals came onto the stage to inform us that a plane had crashed into the World Trade Center in New York. Our entire class was, naturally, not too keen on riding on an airplane at that point.
That's what happened 8 years ago (it's hard to believe that it's been that long)...
Also, today marked the debut for Tyler Perry's newest film - "I Can Do Bad All By Myself". The movie was pretty good, and I would recommend that everyone see it. I do have the following gripes, though:
* Not enough Madea (is there EVER enough Madea?)
* Sad scenes were not that sad because it was not belieavable that the characters were sad
* Not enough bloopers in the end (did I mention, I LOVE the outtakes?)
Other than that (and without revealing too much of the movie), I will recommend that you go see it if you have not.
